Sofia’s Bridge ready for the season opening

In September 2016 the first sod for Sofia’s Bridge at Sofiero Castle Park in Helsingborg was cut by King Carl XVI Gustaf, and in 2017, Helsingborg Arena & Scen AB signed a contract with Bladt Industries for the manufacture and delivery of an approximately 60 meter long gangway for the beautiful castle park. Now, barely a year later, the bridge has been opened in connection with the park’s season opening.

Across a gap in the beautiful park at Sofiero Castle in Helsingborg, the 40-tonnes double-curved bridge adorns. A bridge Bladt Industries has been working on to manufacture and assemble over the past year.  The double-curved design, which the architects Dissing+Weitling is behind, are made of pure steel, which is more challenging in the manufacturing and assembly processes, but at the same time demonstrates the many possibilities that are made of architectural beautiful constructions in pure steel.

“This is a great improvement to the overall experience with this architecturally beautiful bridge – especially for visitors with walking difficulties, who can now enjoy the magnificent surroundings directly from the bridge.”, says Charlie Fält, Production Manager, Helsingborg Arena & Scen.

At its highest level the bridge is about 12 metres above ground, which gives a beautiful view.

“It has been an exciting and complex process where our expertise and strong competencies have really been able to unfold. Throughout the project we have had a very good and close cooperation with Helsingborg Arena & Scen, which I am sure has benefited all parties. It’s great to see a finished project where we know we have delivered exactly what our customer wanted.”, says Søren Bendixen, Senior Project Manager in Infrastructure, Bladt Industries.

Over the years, Bladt has collaborated with several nationally and internationally recognized architectural firms. It is especially the work with complexity, the unique detail and timing that play an important role for the company.

With about 50 bridges on the reference list, all of very different character, the company has long proven that they can deliver everything from the small simple footbridge to the large architectural and technical heavy-duty projects.
