Turnkey contract for Sandbank project
In 2014, Bladt Industries A/S was appointed to deliver 72 transition pieces and one offshore substation for the German Sandbank Offshore Wind Farm.

For the 72 transition pieces, Bladt Industries was appointed by the German company EEW SPC GmbH, and for the Sandbank OSS, Bladt signed the contract with the joint venture Sandbank Offshore Wind GmbH – a partnership by Vattenfall (51%) and Stadtwerke München (49%).

“As senior project manager on the Sandbank substation project, my job is to ensure that all phases of the engineering, procurement, construction and installation are coordinated in details in order to deliver the usual high Bladt quality.”

Jesper Hass Rasmussen, Senior Project Manager, Bladt Industries

Transition pieces
In addition to the substation, Bladt Industries fabricated the 72 transition pieces for the Sandbank offshore
wind farm. Fabrication of the transition pieces took place at our Aalborg fabrication site in Denmark.

Manufacturing was initiated as scheduled in third quarter of 2014, and by the end of 2015, the last transition piece was sailed away from our site in Aalborg.

“We have a great deal of experience with producing transition pieces. It is always exciting to see the result of a finished project, and it has been a great journey to manage this project from beginning to end.”

Jan Lyngdal Pedersen, Senior Project Manager, Bladt Industries

The complete project went according to plan only with a few weather issues which prolonged loadout time.

The offshore wind farm Sandbank is located in the German North Sea 90 km of the isle of Sylt and is planned to deliver electricity for approx 400,000 households annually as off 2017.
