Sandbank

Germany (288 MW)

Reference

In 2014, Bladt Industries and Semco Maritime were appointed to deliver the offshore substation for the German Sandbank Offshore Wind Farm by Sandbank Offshore Wind GmbH.

The offshore substation project was a turnkey contract (EPCI contract) and the finished topside and the four legged jacket including pin piles was ready for installation in the second quarter of 2016. The Sandbank substation is the 14th offshore substation to leave Bladt’s site in Aalborg.

Bladt Industries is responsible for the construction of steel structures for all substations, while Semco Maritime will facilitate the production of LV electrical works, including E&I, design, onshore construction and offshore commissioning.

With a timeframe of 18 months to fabricate the substation, it was a rather tight time schedule. However,
this did not discourage Bladt Industries and Semco Maritime. All previous substation projects had been delivered on time and the Sandbank substation was no exception.

“As senior project manager on the Sandbank substation project, my job is to ensure that all phases of the engineering, procurement, construction and installation are coordinated in details in order to deliver the usual high quality.”

Jesper Hass Rasmussen Senior Project Manager, Bladt Industries
