Meet Hsien Chuang

Hsien Chuang is a Project Manager at our facility at Odense Port. Hsien works with the project management of our XXL foundations.

Hsien works with the senior project managers. On this project, there are three people that handle PM-related tasks. They are in close contact with the customer to make sure execution takes place according to plan.

“I get good support from my senior project managers and other colleagues. While you learn to navigate in the company’s structure, the senior PMs give you a clue on the map, and then you go and find out yourself.”

The XXL monopiles will be used in the construction of the two offshore wind farms, Gode Wind 3 and Borkum Riffgrund 3.

“A project manager, or a PM, is to guard the project scope. You cannot handle every task single-handedly, because everyone has their limits. A PM should know each person in the team in order to delegate. When you know an organization very well, the problem can be solved by the right person right away.”

“I would like other young females to have the incentive to feel welcomed in this industry. You are facing different parties, and dealing with internals, sub suppliers and clients. Negotiating, communication and problem-solving skills are qualities I believe many young minds possess, regardless of gender.”

With a bachelor’s degree in social sciences and technology management, and an exchange programme diploma from University of Southern Denmark (SDU), Hsien has knowledge of not just the wind industry and sustainability, but also Denmark and Danish culture.

“When I was in university, the wind industry was growing in Taiwan. During my year of studying in Denmark at SDU, we had an introduction course in sustainable energy. We were introduced to Ørsted and energy policies in Denmark. My curiosity was definitely fulfilled there, and it stuck in my mind. After going back to Taiwan, I saw that, wow, these Danish companies were really operating there, and have activities that you can join.”

Hsien joined CS WIND Offshore (then Bladt) in the beginning of 2023, after having worked in Taiwan in the joint venture between Bladt and Taiwanese Century Wind Power.

In the partnership with Century Wind Power, Bladt built 62 jacket foundations for the Changfang and the Xidao wind farms off the Changhua Coast, Taiwan. The two projects have a combined capacity of 589 MW.

“I have just recently joined – and I’m looking forward to taking on more responsibility. I believe and know that regardless of gender or age, any qualified person can find their own roles in this industry. And I intend to prove it.”
